As the Ukrainian emergency visa program draws to an end, the Canadian Immigration Lawyer Association is requesting a plan to deal with an impending backlog of applications for work permits and permanent residency.

The Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program was introduced by the government in February 2022, not long after Russia invaded Ukraine. We are currently in the third year of that battle.

The CUAET visa holders have until March 31 to enter Canada; before, the application date for one of these temporary resident visas was July 15, 2023.
